Sander Veenhof (1973, NL) is a new media artist from Amsterdam who explores the boundaries between digital and analog domains. By swapping features between these different domains he aims to combine the best of both worlds: complex digital installations empowered by the beauty of simple, common (and therefore uncommon) interface techniques.
Sander Veenhof presents LOCAL SPACE WALK:
A ladder is positioned above a projection of Google Earth on the floor. The steps of the ladder are connected to the zoom function of the Google Earth program. By climbing up the ladder, Palais Paradiso visitors embark on a local space walk above Weteringschans 6 (The address of Paradiso). The installation creates a physical, 3D experience, adding to the 2D mapping of our 3D globe.
