Pilvi Takala (1981, FI) graduated from Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2006, and is currently a resident at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam. Her work has been exhibited in Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art/Helsinki, 5th Berlin Biennial, 9th Istanbul Biennial, Turku Art Museum, Frac des Pays de la Loire, Nantes and Kunshalle Helsinki.
Pilvi Takala will present two short films: The Angels and Real Snow White.
The Angels investigates the illusion of safety, and perfection, in a highly controlled public space. Dressed as a shop assistant, the artist performs genuine acts of kindness, which might also be perceived as suspicious.
In Real Snow White the absurd logic pertaining to the 'real character' and the extreme discipline at Disneyland, reveal themselves when a true fan of Disney's Snow White is banned from entering the park in a Snow White costume; whilst proving highly popular among the other visitors.
